Postgraduate Orthopaedics in collaboration with the Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) are proud to announce our seventh International FRCS (Tr&Orth) revision course.
This course offers an intense and comprehensive review of Orthopaedics and is ideally suited to candidates planning to sit:

  • Joint speciality fellowship of the Singapore College of Orthopaedic Surgeons 
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgoens(Orthopaedic Surgery) FRACS
  • Fellowship of the  Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons(FHKCOS)

The course has been divided into

One day of lectures
Two days small group Viva tutorial teaching
One day of Mock Viva Examination Practice
One day Clinical Viva Examination Preparation
One day Clinical Examination with patients

This 6-day course is designed to provide high yield orthopaedic topics and preparation for the International FRCS (Tr&Orth) exam. It is internationally accredited by the RCSEng the only FRCS(TR&Orth) course worldwide with this accolade.

The course  has been significantly redesigned to take into account of the recent FRCS(Tr&Orth) examination changes and also the changing learning methods developed due to the Covid pandemic. There have been changes in the way trainees learn material and want to prepare for this high stakes examination.  Candidates want less formal lectures and more face to face small group viva practice.

This  course has always remained face to face not virtual.Our courses are very intense with very long days and would not suit a virtual platform.

Lecture presentations.
The lecture programme has been condensed down into one day  covering key topics that are difficult to understand in a virtual format.Previous lectures will be available to view and take notes from. The lectures will be geared towards A list high yield exam topics

Two days of Mock Viva practice for the FRCS (Tr&Orth).
The Viva component for the FRCS (Tr&Orth) exam will be a mixture of viva topics with typical exam questions that has time built in for teaching and feedback from experienced faculty. This has had excellent feedback from previous candidates.This is over 2 days and it is hoped the viva practice will make a huge difference in a candidates examination preparation and performance.

Advanced Clinical Examination study day for the FRCS (Tr&Orth).
The advanced clinical examination viva day will replicate the new clinical examination techniques viva that has been introduced by the ICB. This will mainly involve  short cases. Feedback will involve detailed explanations of how to examine for a particular condition, what should candidates look for in the clinical pictures, how they would perform a particular test and the significance of a positiveclinical finding.

Clinical Examination day
This will be a traditional clinical examination day involving patients.Both short and intermediate clinical cases.
